“Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree.”
~ Emily Bronte
Like I said on Facebook a couple of days ago, the first day of autumn heralds the start of my very favourite time of year. The vegetable garden is empty, a hard frost has ended the flowers’ season, and now the pace of life slows down considerably. As much as I love my flowers during the summer, I think that Mother Nature is at her most glorious during the few weeks of our autumn. All of my favourite colours are in the autumn palette, and there is no sight more beautiful than golden sunshine on colourful leaves, against the brilliant blue of the Prairie sky. The temperatures are exactly to my liking, and it’s the time of year when I feel the most alive and productive. Welcome back, old friend.
“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”
~ George Eliot
